The Spectacular Fujiten Snow Park!
Review by SG (Kahler)
Imagine a place where there is shining white snow where you can ski, snowboard, and sled down an icy mountain of fun. A place where there are nice dining areas with warmthness to relax. A place to rent toys and meet new people. Well you don’t have to only imagine, you can go now! Introducing the beautiful Fujiten Snow Park, located on the breathtaking foothills of Mount Fuji. It is considered one of the most beautiful and iconic places in Japan. It is located in Narusawa village, just to the south of the central village area.
Before you head out on your snowy adventure, you can get your gear at the Yokosuka Outdoor Recreation Center on base. They are closed on Wednesdays. You can learn all about it if you search Yokosuka Outdoor Recreation Center. Go to this link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i7e3HB0wOw4 . They have snowboards, skis, snow coats/pants and many more. The price is very reasonable, especially if you compare it to the cost of rentals at the resort.
No need to stress about finding the costs of the tickets, because they are right here. The costs range from half day tickets starting at 3000 yen, to full day super tickets starting at 5000 yen. The season tickets including night is 56000 yen (adults) and 55000 (child). Hey parents! Are your children 4-12 years of age? Then lucky for you because your kids can get child tickets. Also people 60 years and over can get a senior. At the Fujiten Snow Park, parking is free on weekdays. After 3pm at night, it is 1000 yen on weekends and holidays.
After all of that skiing and playing in the snow, you may be starving for warm good food. Fujiten also has restaurants to fix your dining needs. They even have a kids menu for your little ones. If you do order from the kids menu, you can get a coin and you put it into this toy machine. You can also eat some curry, chicken, beans, and many more. They have a menu in English there.
After a long day of snow play and a tummy full of warm food, you are probably tired. If you wish, you could choose to stay in one of the many hotel rooms at the resort. How refreshing it would be to sleep warm and awaken to the sun rising over the mountains and the crisp morning air of the slopes. Then, you can start again, snowboarding, eating and relaxing. If the comfort of your own bed sounds better, then it is only a two hour drive home to the Yokouska area from Fukiten Snow Park.
You are probably clueless how to even get there. Well here is how. It is 12 km from Kawaguchiko Station (Fujiko Line). It is 13 km from Kawaguchiko IC (Chuo Expressway) and 43 km from Gotemba IC Tomei Expressway national route 139. This can be a long and perhaps complicated drive, so I suggest checking out a route on-line before you leave.
Visiting this exhilarating place was fantastic. I don’t know about you but if I had the chance to go, I’d be there in a second. If you do visit, make sure you wake up early so it won’t be too crowded. So grab your gear and head on out to the Fujiten Snow Park. Just don’t fall on your butt like I did!
