Tokyo Tower
Review by AM
Living in Japan there are many places to visit but I think my favorite place is probably Tokyo Tower. I have been up here three times and every time I go I find something new that I didn't see the last time. I think Tokyo Tower is a remarkable place you can take friends or just go with your family. Its great because it's located in the heart of Tokyo.
Tokyo Tower is just one of those places you must visit before you leave Japan. I just had to write about this place because it blows me away that somebody built this
masterpiece. This was built on December 23, 1958. At 332.9 meters or 1,091 feet, it is the second-tallest structure in Japan. It has 16 floors through the whole tower. The structure is an Eiffel Tower-inspired tower that is painted white and orange. The lights of Tokyo Tower, making it beautiful in the night sky, are made up of 164 flood lights installed on the various parts of the tower. It is best to go here on a clear day so you can see everything For adults the price is ¥900 to ¥1,600, for children the price is¥400 to ¥1,000. Here you can step on a window that is on the floor so you can see all the way to the street. The windows go from the ceiling to the floor so you can see all of Tokyo and beyond.
It took us about one hour and 30 minutes to get here from Yokosuka. When you are here there is no way to get water until you get back to the food court so you should make sure to bring a water bottle with you, but don't worry there are bathrooms and restaurants at the end. It does get a little hot at the top so make sure to wear short sleeves, but other than that you should be okay to go as you are. There are also very amazing gift shops up here that you can visit so make sure to bring extra yen with you. I know that you will for sure enjoy this place.

The Imperial Palace
Review by AA
Are you new to Japan and do you want to learn more about it’s culture? If so visit The Imperial Palace. The Imperial Palace is a beautiful well kept area which used to be the home of former emperors of Japan. When you first go in the palace there is a long bridge surrounded by water.. There are many museums surrounding the area showing how Japan and America became allies. It also has pictures with Japanese leaders and American presidents shaking hands and eating together. It is supposed to be quiet and there is no flash photography allowed outside or in the museums at the park.
The admission is free and they give you plastic tickets when you enter. You shouldn’t lose the ticket, because they ask for it when you leave. You should bring ¥10,000 for the the tolls while you’re driving to the Palace. They also open the entire area of the palace on December 23 when it is the Emperor’s birthday. The rest of the year it usually isn’t full at all. There aren’t places to buy food ,but there are places where you can get drinks from there many vending machines placed around the palace. The palace is in Tokyo Chiba and the address is 1-1-1.

Harajuku
Review by LL
Harajuku: a shopper’s paradise. Harajuku is a large shopping district that includes international brands, its own brands, and little shops selling items that young people can afford. It has two main shopping streets: Omotesandō and Takeshita Street. It caters to many young fashions including Gothic Lolita, visual kei, rockabilly, hip hop, and punk outfits, in addition to fast food outlets. It’s has a reputation of being a gathering place for young teens, and is a fashion capital of the world. If you are a shopaholic, Harajuku is your heaven.
I chose to review Harajuku because it is the best shopping place in all of Japan. It dates back to the end of World War II. It became an area where young people could experience a different culture and stores directed toward middle and upper class Japanese and Americans. In 1958, Central Apartments was built in the area and began to fill in with fashion designers, photographers, and models. In 1964 when the Summer Olympics were set in Tokyo, the area was further developed and the idea of Harajuku became more concrete. The term “Harajuku Girls” has been used by English-language media to describe young people with any kind of high fashion around the Harajuku area. In 2005, Gwen Stefani introduced Harajuku Girls as her background dancers. She also started a children’s clothing line, “Harajuku Mini”, for Target. “The Harajuku Barbie” is one of Nicki Minaj’s well known alter-egos. The fashion styles in Harajuku is phenomenal. Ganguro style, which roughly translates to “black face” consists of a deep artificial tan, hair-dyed orange, blonde, or silver, and black-lined eyes with white shadow. It’s often accessorized with fake-lashes, platformed shoes, and bright colored clothing. Ganguro is Japan’s take on a stereotypical “California girl”. A popular style is called Lolita, a modest look based on Victorian-era fashion. It is a cutesy doll look. The typical Lolita girl wears a cupcake-shaped skirt with petticoats and knee-high stockings. The style often includes corsets and headdresses.
Harajuku is a good place to binge shop and spend all of your money, so make sure you bring as much money as possible. It is best to take the train to Harajuku. I’m not sure if it is possible to drive there, because I’ve only taken the train to get there. It is good to spend the whole day there, as well. I would leave at around 10am to get there early. First, you go to Yokosuka Chuo Station and take the Keikyu Main Line. Once you get to Shinagawa, get off and take the Yamanote Line towards Shibuya until you get to Harajuku Station. Harajuku is also best at night. You will see a lot of people dressed up and who have good fashion. I always feel underdressed whenever I come to Harajuku. I would recommend wearing comfortable (but stylish) shoes, because Harajuku is a big place and you will be doing a lot of walking. You must eat at the little crepe shop. Their crepes are very delicious. Harajuku has a lot of international brands including Forever 21, H&M, Topshop, American Eagle Outfitters, and many more. Harajuku also has KiddyLand, a huge building with 5 floors, each with it’s own theme. It carries a great range of Hello Kitty, Disney, Lego, Doraemon, and much more. It’s pretty much a maze of toys and cute merchandise.
At the end of the day, you’ll feel exhausted. Your feet will be sore, your hands will be full of shopping bags, and you’ll be relieved to lay in your bed again. But it will be all worth it, because you have shopped your heart out at one of the world’s biggest fashion capitals, Harajuku.

Matsumoto City Museum of Art
Review by RB
Do you love castles or museums? If you do then you should definitely go to the Matsumoto city museum of art. It has all these old artifacts and what japanese people used to wear as an armor. Once you enter the castle, you’ll see a big room with stairs leading to the artifacts inside. Before you enter the museum you have to have to take off your shoes and they will provide slippers for you to wear. This museum is a beautiful place to go see. Do you want to spend time with your family or have nice pictures? Then I suggest you go to the museum. Do you like art or history? Then I think you will love this museum.I don't exactly know the location of this place, but contact me and I will give you the right information. When I went it was snowing because it opens from December 29- January 3 and the hours is from 8:03 am to 5:00pm. The doors close at 4:30pm. It cost like ¥610 for adults and ¥300 for children. Bring some extra money just incase, because there is a little cafe place when you enter. As soon as you go out of the castle turn to your left and walk straight. Then there is another museum with amazing artifacts. It had a dragon right in front of you and it said not to touch, but I did anyways so shhh. You have got to go as soon as possible. I love this place because it is just breathtaking. I think it is located in tokyo, but if you want the specifics then contact me and I will look it up for you. I am not exactly sure if it is in Tokyo so if you want to know then just call me. I know it is about like two hours away from Yokosuka. If you go then show me some pictures because I would love to see them. Hope you go!
