Hi. A place that I recommend going to is the base library. Sure, going to the library is not everyone’s idea of fun, but going to the library is something I enjoy, even if I have to do homework. I hope by the end of this essay you’ll want to go to the library too.
You can pretty much get to the library from anywhere on base. In my opinion, it is much easier, and nature friendly, to walk to the library. To get to the library from Sullivan’s Elementary School is easy. First, you must exit the playground. There are several exits through out the playground. I, personally, would leave through the one closest to the Commissary. Cross the street and walk forward like you’re going to the Commissary and walk towards it. ONce you get there, you’ll see a red brick area, a crosswalk, and a huge building. In that building, as soon as you walk in, on your right-hand side is the library.
There is a lot you can do at the library: the obvious, check out and read books. You can log n to computers and print up to ten free pages a day. The Library is also a great place for tutoring. The library has a teen study, which has books for middle and high schoolers. Some books are labeled as “young adult.”At the library you can also rent tv shows and movies on DVD and music CD’s. You can also look through the catalog for a book you want to read. The catalog can tell you if they have the book, which base it is on, the call number, and it’s availability.
To check out a book, CD, or DVD you must have a library account. You must also have a library account to receive the login information of a computer. If you have a library account, you use your identification card, or ID card. To check out you go to the circulation desk with the item you are checking out and your ID. Give them the item and your identification card. Your ID is basically your library card.
Over all, the library is great. I go there and check out about seven books every single time. The library is the perfect place to waste time. It sometimes even gets new books.

Fleet Gym
Review by JW
For anyone new to Yokosuka middle school. Fleet gym is a fantastic place to go. Fleet has five floors, on the first floor is a laundry mat. the second floor a Fleet NEX store and an atm. With the third floor there are places to eat. The fourth and fifth floors they ar for exercise. The way to get there from school is to come to the sidewalk then turn right go straight. go into the tunnel then when you come out walk down to the sidewalk then cross over to the other side then turn right. Make the first left. Go straight down walk up the small tan stairs then turn left wall to the double doors into the laundry mat then you walk out then you can take the stairs up or the elevator to your choice of floor. In my opinion the fourth floor is best floor. Inside you have two basketball courts. Some treadmills and Etc. Me and my friends always go the basketball courts. the rims are level and mostly very open, because most are on the fifth floor in the weight room or doing the the bikes. With the third floor their is 3 food joints they have Hot N Stuff pizza, Mean Genes, and a sub place. They provide free wifi and charging outlets. Outside is a game center and more place to sit down to eat. With the fleet store NEX store has more gym gear the the regular Nex. this store sells shorts, shirts, shoes, and games and movie. Also the provide protein powder for sale. This is where i think you should if you're into sports. That's why this is an excellent place to be.

I noticed that you are new to japan and new to the school. Well, my name is Kyleigh, i was new once. Emily Bellows was my Dragon Core and she showed me around the school with my parents. She showed me all of my classes and also to me were to go and hang out. We have a teen center on base for teens of course. I think you would enjoy that a lot and you can make friends there easily. Everybody’s nice and really friendly, so i guess it won't be hard for you to make friends. I have a lot of cool places and restaurants that you might like. If you like sports there are a lot of fields for different varieties of sports. Me personally, I like sports such as: basketball, soccer, and football. But more than anything i have found and interest in cooking and eating. I got that gene from my dad from my dad(see how i put some science into that ). Since he was in the military(he's a veteran now) he did a lot of cooking in the house for his soldiers.
Let’s get started shall we, first thing i going to start off with is places that you would like to go eat since you need food to survive. My number one place to go is the Chinese restaurant right off the base. You can walk there or you can drive to parking area and walk to the restaurant. In that case you would have to walk either way. When you’re going to the restaurant you pass by and American restaurant that is called Honey Bee owned japanese citizens. In there make really good fried chicken and not only do they have American food they also have Indian food like curry but japanese style. After you pass by the restaurant, then go pass a couple of home sale places. You also go pass a store that sells American clothing. I like going in there to see what the latest trend is also to see if they have any high-waisted pants. Then you would pass by another housing sales place. Then about three feet you made it to the restaurant. What I usually get is the fried special, but I’m kind of liking the diced chicken with white rice. Another restaurant is the Garlic House, if you like garlic then this is the place. I like going at night because I love the wonderful lights that glows up the night. I also love how when some of the japanese citizens are dress up in different types of party clothes that you wouldn't see in the states. When it's almost nine o’clock that where some of the working girls put on different anime character costumes and hand out little fliers to you. I am an anime fan and every year they have an anime convention for anime lovers. The last restaurant I want to talk about is CoCo Curry. Now if you like curry, this is the spot but its japanese curry; which is sweet. Coco Curry has different kinds of levels of hot. I got level seven, because i like spicy food, any kind actually. I thought I could handle it, but that was a big mistake . My mouth felt as if it was on fire. I had started sweating and I asked the waitress for two glasses of water. My mom was laughing really hard, that she had tears coming out of her eyes and she could not stop laughing. To me, those are all of the good restaurants.
For landmarks in japan, of course it would be Tokyo. I went over the weekend and can I just say I had the best experience of my life. One of my moms co-workers asked if I wanted to go with them and I said yes. We took a train to get there. You can drive but I prefer the train because I need to learn how to use the train system. In Tokyo the lights were beautiful and the trees had no leaves because it was winter. While in Tokyo I stayed in a hotel called The New Sanno Hotel. The best part about was the room service. To conclude this writing prompt. All the places I mentioned are really great just go there for the fun of it. Thank you for coming to Japan it is a wonderful place.

Yokosuka Middle School
Review by SA
Yokosuka has many different places to see and have fun at. Yokosuka Middle School is a place where you’re supposed to go everyday of the week as a source of gaining your education.
Mostly everyone dreads school. It’s just nature that everyone finds it super boring and a waste of time. If you look beyond stereotypical “horrible” things about school, you’ll come to find that it isn’t that bad.
First of all, the transportation and location of the school is just fine. From where I live, it usually only takes half of an hour to get to school in the mornings. On the way to school, busses aren’t bad and are usually enjoyable. The bus usually arrives to school at 7:05 a.m, twenty minutes before school starts. You have options to either wait in front of the school with other people or to go behind the school and play sports or talk to others. Because of the school’s location, an advantage is being able to go to a nearby store to get breakfast. School begins at 7:25 a.m and everyone begins to make their way inside. You walk inside, and are greeted by a series of “good mornings”, either by students or teachers. You have ten minutes to go to class, which allows you time to go to your locker, use the restroom, talk to other people, and make it to class on time.
Next comes the time when you meet new people and start learning what you need to know. When I was a new student, everyone was super nice and helpful. This started to make me comfortable in my new environment. The teachers aren’t scary or extremely mean, but mostly just strict. Some teachers allow time in class to talk while you’re working. Each class is a total of ninety minutes long. After class is done, you get five minutes to travel to your next class. My lunch is at 10:30 a.m, and after lunch, you are allowed time outside. You finish up the day with two more classes, and get dismissed at 2:20 p.m.
After school, you have time to do after-school activities and can go home. You’re then greeted by a series of “good byes” and repeat your day for the week, School isn’t that bad, and because we’re required to go, we might as well enjoy it.
