Owl Cafe
Review by SR
Here in Japan, we have cat cafes, goat cafes, and all things considered, we probably even have a hamster cafe somewhere. Do you know what else we have? Owl cafes! Visiting this place has been one of the most amazing things I have ever done. I mean seriously, I got to hang out with these majestic creatures.
Okay, most people are already like “Oh my god I need to go there now!” Well, you do! Despite it’s hidden location, It’s incredibly popular, hence the long lines. The cafe takes limited same-day reservations only, starting at noon. The best thing to do is to go there around 30 minutes earlier, and wait until they open the door to take the reservations for that day. You must pay in advance. Once inside, they give you detailed instructions on how to act. Don’t mess this up! You’re so close! Don’t get kicked out now! The owls! Think of the owls!
Photography by mom. Yay mom! It is a cafe, and what would a cafe be without drinks?
How cute is that? It’s tasty too! Sadly they don’t serve food here, the owls would get jealous. Speaking of owls... would it be speaking? Typing? Reading?
Whatever it is, owls are definitely more important than any food. I mean, look at that apple on it’s head.
Details
These little cuties are in the line-up. Please ignore the death glare the owl on the far left is giving you. They’re some of the smaller ones in this amazing place known as Fukuro no Mise. The drink that you saw above was lemonade, they have more, though I forget what. The drinks are positively delectable. These amazingly soft owls are worth every freezing-cold second you have to wait outside. Inside, it’s pretty dark and the lights are dimmed so that the owls aren’t blinded. You have to be quiet, as to not scare them. Imagine if some strange person came into your house and randomly picked you up, adding a lot of noise would give you a heart attack.
If you don’t really want to interact, they usually have an entertaining owl-related movie playing, like guardians of Ga'Hoole. But why would you not want to interact? It smells like bird, if that even is a smell, meat, and if you go after another group, it usually stinks of cologne. See those colorful strings tied around their ankles? You hold those while they are on your arm, hand, or head. Of course, not everyone can cope with their shiny, scary talons. (Insert scream here.) Especially when they start flapping their impressive wings. You just need to lift your arm in the air so that the majestic flying pillows of seething hatred will calm down. ‘Seething hatred?’ you ask. They’re predators, and they have huge pointy talons, so yeah, I’d say seething hatred. The owls can’t be trained like dogs, so if they uh, *clears throat* go potty on you, don’t freak out!
They occasionally squawk, so don’t be surprised if they’re a tad noisy. They’re sentient creatures, most of them make noise, sheesh. I suggest going with someone who speaks Japanese. They have someone there that speaks english on fridays.

The Best Place to Get Away
Review by DP (Kahler)
So I bet you think there’s nowhere you can go to just relax, enjoy watching tv, go swimming, and eat pizza all day in Japan. Well there is, and it is just a short trip away. It’s the New Sanno Hotel in the middle of Tokyo. Around New Sanno you’ll be amazed by all the attractions. They even have a light show! Exploring the area, you'll find extraordinary things that will forever be in your memories.
Now on the other hand, the food is delicious. I could eat their hamburgers and pizza until I explode. There are restaurants there for your parents, too. Oh, and don’t forget room service. If you go which I highly recommend Hero’s on the second floor. There you can get Italian food and ice cream. They even have Japanese cuisines to try. The best part of the Japanese section is the sushi. If you haven’t tried sushi, try it, you will love it. It’s really good.
The swimming part was the greatest part of the New Sanno and the funniest. I mean that was the first thing I wanted to do. In the pool section you will find a jacuzzi and a sauna. For those you have to be 13 years old to get in unless you have an adult with you. But the jacuzzi it’s super hot, but feels perfect. However, for adults they can swim but, they can exercise and get their workout in because there is a full gym right above the pool area.
Now lets talk about the rooms. The rooms don’t cost too much, especially when compared to the price of hotel rooms at other Tokyo hotels. You can make reservations on the website or call the hotel directly. When you make reservations you can order a separate room from your kids if you want some privacy. They have a TV, but you can bring gaming consoles to hook up to the TV’s in the room. They have a coffee maker, cups, toiletries and stuff like that is provided. They also have air conditioning and a built in to the wall radio that you can control. It’s cool. They have a beautiful view of Tokyo Tower and the city below it.
I always have fun when I go to the New Sanno Hotel. I hope to go again real soon. Maybe I will see you there. All you have to do is make a reservation! The New Sanno Hotel phone number is 229-7220-7231, and website is: http://www.thenewsanno.com/

The Ikego Teen Center
Review by MS (Kahler)
I think the Ikego Teen Center would be an exciting place to visit for the summer or during the school year. The reason why is because you might not have any where to go during the day. The Ikego Teen Center is always open, their times are from 6:00pm - 8:00pm on weekdays and from 12:00pm - 8:00pm on weekends.
When you get there you will need to sign in to the teen center. That includes writing the date, your age, name and gender. Then after that you have a choice. Now if you choose to stay you have a variety of options. You can stay and go to the back of the teen center and make some beats with the electric piano, stay at the front and play the PS4, XBOX 360, or the WII U. Also you can visit the skate park. That has a big ramp, a mini double ramp with stairs and three quarter pipes.
You can stay and play a while, or you can leave and go to the bubble gym. I know what you're thinking, what the heck is the bubble gym? Well the bubble gym is a huge basketball gym, it has three hoops so you will always have a spot to play on. The way you get there is you enter Ikego base, go straight until you see Nikko heights, then you turn right and look to your left. Also to get to the Bubble gym you enter Ikego base then you go straight until you see Kamakura Heights. Then you keep going until you see a clear looking tent. These are some pictures of the Bubble Gym.

Yokosuka Middle School
Review by HP (Arnold)
The place I have chosen is Yokosuka Middle School. Yokosuka Middle School is a school for kids grades six, seven, and eight. It is located on the Yokosuka Naval Base. There are many activities and clubs. There are also concerts. Monday through Friday are school days. Unless there are holidays or teacher workdays. You can get there many ways. There are many amazing things in the hallways. There are paintings on the walls. There are three floors in the building. This is the Yokosuka Middle School.
There are many clubs such as D’Art Club, Science Club, Dragon Academy, and Soroban Club. D’Art Club is currently doing a project on the school. The clubs each come together but, only on days that are not the same as other clubs. The clubs take place after school. It lasts about an hour and a half. Many clubs in our school can teach you many things.
The concerts have band, choir, and strings perform in the lunch cafeteria. First strings perform. It start with beginning strings. Then, combined seventh and eighth grade strings. Finally, eighth grade performs and strings is finished. Next, the band plays which is beginning and seventh grade beginning band. The concerts take place after school and start at 5:00 P.M. but the performers must be seated by 4:15 P.M. The concert ends at around 6:15 P.M. and the concert is finished.
The schedule is Monday through Friday. The only time there is no school on those days is if there are teacher workdays, holidays, and breaks. School starts at 7:25 A.M. to 2:20 P.M. Sometimes there are half days. Which start the normal time but, end at 11:05 A.M. Also, due to inclement weather we may have a two hour delay or school might be canceled.
There are many ways of transportation to get to the school. Such as riding the bus, taking the car, riding your bike, and walking. If you take a us you must wake up at 5:45 A.M. because the bus comes at 6:00 A.M. The car depends on how far away you live from the school. Riding your bike also depends on how far away you live from the school. For walking it also like the car and bike. For me it takes about five minutes for me to get to school by walking.
The walls are full of many artistic images. Such as dragons because our school mascot is a dragon. All of these arts on the walls are made from D’Art Club. There are many pieces of work in each hallway. This is my favorite part of the school because it shows how each person has an artistic side.
There are three floors each for a specific grade level. The first floor is for sixth graders. The second floor are for the seventh graders. Finally, the third floor for eighth graders. Each grade will have two teams such as Blue Ridge, Fitzgerald, Curtis Wilbur, Stethem, and etcetera.
There are many activity days such as Pi Day and S.T.E.A.M. Day. Pi day is on March 14 and S.T.E.A.M. Day is on April 2. These might change throughout the years. These are days when the whole school does not have any classes and have fun or go somewhere. The activity days are still educational in a way.
Thank you for your time. Hopefully by the time you read this we might see you. I chose the Yokosuka Middle School because it is a very good school. There are so many things to do. We hope to see you there with us to enjoy what it has to offer. Have a nice day!

Enospa is a place where you can experience complete pampering and total relaxation. I chose this place because I have been here before and I think that not many people know about it. I think that more people should know about it. It is located on a small island called Enoshima. On a clear day you can see Mt.Fuji. Below I have a couple of pictures of the island but not the spa. They have a very strict NO PHOTOS policy. When you enter the spa you are asked to remove your shoes. They supply small cubbies to store your shoes in. Each cubby has it’s own bracelet attached to it. This bracelet is very important. Once you lock your cubby you walk to the front desk where they will sign you in and give you a small bag supplied with a small towel, a large towel, and a robe or pants and a shirt for children. You then have the choice of going to the restaurant or the changing rooms first.
The changing rooms are located on the third floor to the right. There are two seperate rooms for male and female. Once you enter your changing room you must find your self a locker to put any of your personal belongings in. It can be any number too, it doesn’t have to be the one on your bracelet. Once you have selected your locker you place your belongings in it and change into your bathing suits. They have many different types on bathing suits for sale near the enterance, incase you forget to bring yours. Then you put your robe on and bring your small bag with you to wherever you go next. The naked bath is also located on the third floor. It is in the changing room area so that the males and females are separated.
The fourth floor includes the restaurant or the “Island Grill” and the “Beng Teng Spa”. The Island Grill is a terrific place to spot the lovely Mt. Fuji. There are some tables facing windows for any customer. The Island Grill’s menu changes monthly but they do usually have pizzas, pasta, salads and antipasto. The Beng Teng Spa is a spa where you get a special skin treatment. They have different treatments every hour or so. The Spa also includes shows. The show times vary depending on the day of the week.
You can then use the changing room elevators to go to the outdoor pool ( Only open in summer), the hot tubs and the regular pools. On the second floor they also have a food stand and a small bar. The food stand includes: nachos, chip bags, fries and other snacks. The bar includes: can drinks, water, juice and alcoholic beverages. In winter they may have hot chocolates and coffee.
On the second floor there is also an elevator leading down into the cave baths and the sauna. The sauna has two shelves in it to sit on. It also has a cool feature were every hour they let an aroma into the room. Sometimes it is aloe or peppermint. There are three cave baths. Two are indoor. One is very small but it is freezing cold. The other is very hot. The final outdoor pool is also a hot pool. The view is very beautiful it gives you a nice image of Mt.Fuji.
Now in order to leave the spa you must simply return your bracelet to the front desk. Then you can retrieve your shoes and put them back on at the exit. On the first floor there is also a Enospa cafe. They serve beverages and snacks. Finally I will conclude my essay. I hope that you enjoyed it! By the way DO NOT loose that bracelet for locker because you will have to pay 4200 yen. Thank you for listening!
